A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.

Hey guys. Just wanted to say that you are all STRONG. And I love you all.

I made it through something today that I thought I could never be able to handle, and I did it without relapsing.

Hey guys!! Just wanted to take a second and give you a little back ground on It’s Ok To Smile.

I was on another social networking site one night reading an advice blog. A young lady, age 15, had posted something about needing someone to talk to. She said that she had decided her life was over and she just wanted to tell at least one person good bye, even if they were a complete stranger. After a while I got the young lady to talk to me and tell me what was going on. It became very clear that the young lady was going through an extremely hard time and she felt very alone. I explained to her that she was not alone. I told her that as a matter of fact, I had gone through the same thing she was going through just a few months before. She was a little shocked to find out that I knew exactly how she felt. I told her it gets better. She replied with, and I quote, “I guess. Everyone says its ok to cry…but no one ever says its ok to smile too.”

I stayed up all night talking to her and finally convinced her that life wasn’t over. It was only just beginning. Still to this day I talk to this young lady at least once a week. She just recently celebrated her Sweet Sixteen. She sent me a message on her birthday that said, “I just wanted to thank you. If you hadn’t taken the time that one horrible night to talk to a complete stranger for hours on end, my parents would be leaving a birthday card on a headstone and not on the kitchen table.”

This young lady tells me all the time that I saved her life that night. I dont believe I saved her life. I believe that I showed her it gets better and she saved her own life. I showed her that It’s Ok To Smile. ♥
